Nottingham Twestival 2010 is being held on Thursday 25th March 2010.

We are looking for volunteers to help organise the event in the coming weeks.

We are also looking for generous companies to donate raffle prizes and sponsorship.

Please follow @nottstwestival for updates.

On The Night

The event was warmed up with a great soul set from @carldavis. Colin Hazelden (@impact_tarmac) introduced the event and got the sale of raffle tickets off to a flying start.

Everyone loved the acoustic set from Neon Sky. We then joined into the Second Life set from The Drome.

During the night everyone was posting to Twitter with the hashtag #nottstwestival.

The raffle seemed doomed from the point when we ran out of raffle tickets and had to handcraft some emergency tickets. The same winners tickets kept being drawn from the champagne bucket and dropped back in again until a new winner was found. Winners were eventually found for all the great prizes.

Ed Audiophile and Curious George then took us through to the end of the night with some classic tunes.

We raised a grand total of £310 for The National Autistic Society - Nottingham. For more information on autism, follow @thinkdifferent.

Thanks to PCM Creative for sponsoring the event. Thanks to Ellen at Nellie PR for getting Twestival Local Comes to Nottingham in the Evening Post and the Frances Finn interview on BBC Radio Nottingham. Thanks to Muse for providing a great venue free of charge.

Thanks to all the volunteers for helping organise a great event - @pcmcreative, @rachyrach101, @kimigillnas, @carldavis and @lucyhg.

Roll on the next one!

We are still keen to attract sponsorship from local companies who are keen to show their support for The National Autistic Society - Nottingham.

For Sponsorship Package details, please contact us.

A supportive local company would really be able to contribute to the Nottingham Twestival fundraising total.

Making A Difference

How your donation can make a real difference to the work of The National Autistic Society

£15 - Could help pay for a helpline counsellor to send information on autism support to 5 worried parents

£21 - Would pay for the first stage of training a Befriender, who can help support families affected by autism

£50 - Would give 10 people access to The National Autistic Society’s Telephone Helpline, a crucial service providing support to people with autism and their families

£75 - Would pay for up to 10 people with autism to attend our Social Programmes group in Nottingham which provides vital help and support and encourages adults to go out and socialise together

£500 - Would provide a one day help! Seminar for 20 families - help! is a highly innovative training programme for the parents of children who have recently received a diagnosis of autism.  The course is applicable to  children of all ages and it provides essential, timely information and practical strategies to help parents to understand and manage their childs’ condition.  Crucially, the programme also gives parents the knowledge and confidence to plan for their child’s future.

£1,100 - Just £21 could pay for a trained Befriender to take someone with autism out for an hour – perhaps the only hour that they are able to spend outside their home that week.  £1,100 would support that person for a year.

£2,500 - Will give a person with Asperger Syndrome, a form of autism, the opportunity to gain full time supported employment.

Nottingham Twestival is looking for local companies to sponsor the event with all proceeds going to The National Autistic Society. Please contact us for more details.

Twestival Local Nottingham Hits the Press

Twestival Local Nottingham was today featured in The Evening Post with a great photo of some of the volunteers making Twestival happen.

Nottingham Twestival will be held at Muse, in Broad Street, Hockley, on Thursday, September 10.

Tweeters in Nottingham have chosen the charity themselves, opting for the National Autistic Society.

Martin hopes to raise at least £500 from the £5 entry fee, but is looking for local businesses to sponsor the event and boost the total.

“We’re hoping to see lots of Nottingham Twitter users coming along to have an amazing time with us and generate lots of cash and awareness,” said Martin.

Thanks to Ellen at Nellie PR for setting this up, CJ at PCM Creative for organising and Jemma Cox for capturing the moment in the photo.
